One rainy morning, Sloth awoke to see a strange shape she had never seen before. She stretched slowly, craned her neck, and peered down through the leafy canopy. Below, on the forest floor, she spied something—movement—in the shadows of the giant ferns.

The branch beneath her sagged under her weight as she edged forward. Her claws gripped the slippery bark. “Maybe that’s a friend,” Sloth’s eyes widened.
