A Story Among Flowers

Julia Lyn writes primarily lyrical children’s stories centered on nature, animals, friendship, and kindness. She also writes poetry and episodic memoir. Her children’s work explores curiosity, compassion, inner strength, and the beauty of connection. In her poetry and personal narratives, Julia reflects on the complexities of real life — love, loneliness, silence, and resilience. Her style moves between lyrical storytelling, reflective prose, episodic structure, and journalistic influence as she continues to grow and refine her craft.

Julia is an educator who teaches middle school Social Studies and English Language Arts, as well as high school Yearbook. She has also taught in the primary grades and has played an active role in fostering literacy within her school community. She established a small mobile primary library when one did not yet exist and later helped create the middle school library. As Yearbook advisor, she developed the primary, middle, and high school yearbooks for the charter school where she teaches. Her classroom philosophy is rooted in kindness, curiosity, and meaningful connection — values that shape both her teaching and her writing. Inspired by her own children, family, and the friendships in her life, Julia brings heart and authenticity to every story she tells.

Julia hopes that children who read her books will fall in love with kind characters they can see themselves in. She aims to transport them into bright, curious worlds full of adventure and meaningful connection, carrying the values of kindness she fosters in her classroom onto the pages of her stories. For adult readers, she seeks to connect through poetry, prose, and real-life narratives that explore resilience, everyday challenges, and the quiet truths we often overlook. Her work invites readers to discover personal connection, honesty, and resonance in subtle, thoughtful ways — a reminder that while we may feel alone at times, we are never truly alone.
